Even though Fossil smartwatches feature amazing designs and lots of useful features, there is one functionality that they all miss. We are talking about LTE support. While LTE might not seem like such a groundbreaking feature since our smartphones are connected to mobile data, having access to LTE while on a road trip any other activity where might forget your smartphone is essential. Fortunately, Fossil has announced that it’s working on its first LTE-enabled smartwatch.
Fossil Announces Gen 5 LTE
The smartwatch company announced earlier today that it is getting ready to launch a new device called Fossil Gen 5 LTE. As the device’s name implies, it uses Fossil’s Gen 5 Wear OS (operating system) platform. What makes the new device special is the fact that it supports LTE.
Key Specs
Fossil didn’t only announce that a new device will launch sooner than expected, but it also revealed the key specs. The smartwatch will be powered by none other than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 3100. This is one of the most powerful processors available for smartwatches and therefore, it ensures that the next-gen smartwatch will support heavy-duty tasks without a single problem.
We also want to mention that the device will feature sensors for heart rate, GPS, elevation, and also an ambient light. That’s not all. Fossil made sure to let everyone that the device is swim-proof. Therefore, you can use the smartwatch underwater without ever having to worry that it might malfunction.
Price and Launch Date
The last thing that we want to mention about Fossil Gen 5 LTE is that it will be priced at $349. The smartwatch is expected to launch this spring in the US in Fossil stores or at Verizon. Nonetheless, Fossil Gen 5 LTE is shaping up to be one of the best smartwatches available on the market.
