Diablo fans have been waiting for a new game to release for quite a while now. Diablo 3 was released back in 2012 and now, everyone is asking about Diablo Immortal and the fourth installment in the franchise. However, many people make the mistake of thinking that Diablo Immortal is Diablo 4. This is not the case!
Diablo 4 is not Immortal. Diablo 4 is a full-fledged PC and console game that is currently under development at Blizzard. On the other hand, Diablo Immortal is a mobile game that will launch on Android and iOS in 2022. The games take place in the same Diablo universe, but 4 is not Immortal. They are different both in terms of gameplay features, story, and characters available to players.

Is Diablo 4 Immortal?
Immortal was announced back in 2018 during the infamous Blizzcon where Blizzard got booed off stage at its own event. In fact, Immortal was the reason why Blizzard’s fans started booing. Everyone was expecting the game developer to announce the much-anticipated Diablo 4 and instead, we got a mobile game that is exclusive on Android and iOS. Many fans Diablo believed that this is an out-of-season April’s fools joke, but this wasn’t the case.
On the bright side of things, Blizzard did announce that Diablo 4 for PC and console is under development and released a bunch of gameplay trailers for it. Therefore, Diablo 4 is not Immortal because the latter is a mobile game. The two will have different launch dates and according to the latest news from Blizzard, we can expect to see Diablo Immortal hitting the app stores in June 2022.
Is Diablo 4 Ever Coming Out?
There is not an official release date for Diablo 4. The game was initially scheduled to launch in 2022 but Blizzard decided to postpone the game and keep it in development for longer. As a fan of the Diablo franchise, I think it’s better that Blizzard is not hurrying to launch the game and is making sure that it’s launching a finished product. From the looks of it, we can expect Diablo 4 to launch in 2023.
Is Diablo 4 a Prequel?
Diablo 4 is not a prequel. The game is categorized as a sequel because it picks up the story of Diablo 3 and continues from there. We know from the announcement trailer that players will have to deal with Lillith. She is the “big baddie” of this series and will definitely give players a challenge.
