Pixel 4A 5G December Update Brings Touchscreen Issues

Pixel 4A 5G

While most people choose to purchase a Pixel smartphone because they want to receive access to all of Google’s latest software updates, this doesn’t necessarily guarantee that all updates are good. In fact, reports are showing that after downloading the latest December security update, Pixel 4A 5G users started experiencing issues with their touchscreens. The display is unresponsive and fails to respond in time to taps on the lower part. Fortunately, Google is aware of the problem and has promised a solution is coming soon.

Pixel 4A 5G Touchscreen Issues

One of the best things about using a Pixel smartphone is being able to download all of Google’s security patches. The reason behind this is that the Android parent releases a security patch each month that takes the security of its smartphones to the next level. Unfortunately, the latest December security patch introduced more issues than good changes.

After downloading and installing the update on Pixel 4A 5G, the lower part of the touchscreen starts being unresponsive. As you can imagine, Google’s forums are now flooded with complaints from angry users who can no longer use their smartphones.

Quick Fixes

The Android parent announced that it is working on a software fix for this issue. We don’t have an official release date for the update, but we hope it’s going to roll out soon. It’s also worth mentioning that Google has revealed some quick fixes that might fix the problem. Check them out below:

  • When tapping icons on the edge of the screen, tap the center of the button or the side of the button/icon furthest away from the edge of the display.
  • When tapping icons, including the navigation buttons on the bottom of your screen, use the tip of your finger or thumb instead. This will help improve touch recognition.
