Xperia Compact

It’s been rumored for a couple of months now that Sony is planning to launch a new rugged smartphone. The device is called Xperia Compact 2021 and fortunately for us and other Sony fans, the smartphone has been leaked. Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) is a reliable leakster with a stellar track record for predicting upcoming gadgets and he posted a new press render for Xperia Compact.

What’s interesting about the new Xperia Compact leak is that according to the leakster, the smartphone will be different from what we are expecting. OnLeaks is claiming that the device will be called Xperia Ace 2 and that it is targeting the Japanese markets.

Xperia Compact aka Xperia Ace 2

The new smartphone is scheduled to take over the Japanese market during the upcoming months. We think that Sony will see success with the device and the reason behind this is that the device ships with premium features. For example, Xperia Compact will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 690 processor that is paired with 5G support.

The device is equipped with a 5.5-inch display that features a 21;( aspect ratio and a selfie-shooter that is hidden inside a top punch hole. The leaked press render also showcases that Sony has equipped Xperia Compact aka Xperia Ace 2 with a double camera setup on the rear side that is paired with a LED flash. Another notable feature is the 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition, the smartphone features the following measurements: 140 x 68.9 x 8.9mm.

Final Words

Even though Sony fans are expecting a new Xperia Compact model, Sony has other plans. The device will be called Xperia Ace 2 and it will first launch in Japan. We think it’s safe to say that if the smartphone does well in Japan, Sony will consider a global launch.
